2 Kids in a Car for 6 Days?

2 boys, ages 6 and 3, in a car for 6 days cross-country. What would you bring?

  1. Where are you going? And when?

I'd bring lots of books on CD--funny ones especially (we liked Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business immensely on one road trip). The music CD Let's Go by Susie Tallman. Bridger really likes to have a little plastic tub of Legos to monkey around with--high sides on the container are important to minimize Lego dropping. Colorforms and magnetized play scenes. Where's Waldo books. Books from the Young Puzzles series from Usborne books.

I'm guessing Ezra will be fine if you just bring a lot of Tintin, won't he? But Ottar. . . I'll think on it.

You might want to find a copy of the book Carschooling by Diane Flynn Keith (I think that's her name).

    Can't wait to hear more.

  2. Oh, thank you! We didn't have time for any of that stuff to come through on interlibrary loan, but I'm glad i have a record of your suggestions for any one of our upcoming car trips. Oh, we did get colorforms! But unfortunately the annoyingly huge and stiff boxes made them more of an annoyance than a joy. What do you keep yours in?
